Parent Partnership

At Toad Hall Nursery, we actively encourage parents to become involved in nursery life. We believe that working in partnership helps children feel secure, confident, and happy in their learning journey.

Settling In

Before starting, new children are invited to visit the nursery with their parents. Once a place has been accepted, we arrange introductory visits to help children settle gradually.

  • The first pre-visit is free of charge.

  • Any additional hours will be charged at our normal fee rate.

  • Pre-visits usually consist of a morning session, with children leaving after lunch or, for our youngest, after their mid-day sleep.

These visits are arranged after the room leader has discussed your child’s needs with you and agreed on a settling-in strategy.

Communication

We value open communication and ensure parents are kept up to date:

  • Each room has a parent notice board with daily information.

  • Staff will verbally share details about your child’s activities, meals, and routines.

  • There is always time at the start and end of the day for informal chats with staff.

  • Parent’s evenings are held throughout the year to discuss progress and view your child’s Learning Journey with their key person.

  • Learning Journeys are always available for parents to view at any time.

Tapestry/Famly (September 2025 starters)

When your child starts nursery, we will set up a Tapestry account for you. This allows you to see observations from nursery and also share special moments from home.

Parent Involvement

We regularly invite families to take part in sessions such as:

  • Stay and play mornings

  • Rhyme times
These provide a chance to socialise with staff and other families while enjoying time in the nursery environment.

News & Updates

  • A monthly newsletter is sent via email with updates on nursery life and upcoming events.

  • Other important messages are also sent via email, so we ask parents to check regularly.

  • Parents are welcome to join our private Facebook group—please contact the office if you’d like to be added.
