Parent Partnership

We actively encourage parents to become involved at Toad Hall Nursery, and new children are encouraged to visit the nursery with their parents before starting. Introductory visits will then be arranged once a place has been accepted and parents will be able to leave their children for a short period of time to help them settle. These visits will be arranged once the room leader has discussed the needs of the child with the parents and a strategy to encourage a happy settling in period has been agreed. The first pre-visit is free of charge. Additional hours will be charged at our normal fee rate. Pre-visits usually consist of a morning session and children usually leave after lunch or their mid-day sleep in the case of our youngest children. A parent’s notice board is available in each room. Details will be verbally shared on activities which have been available to your child, planning, meal times, and any other relevant information. There will also be time at the start and the end of the day for informal discussions with members of staff. Parent’s evenings are held throughout the year for children in all units where parents have the opportunity to discuss their child’s progress and development and view your child’s ‘learning journey’ with their child’s key person. Learning journeys are available to view at any time. We also hold regularly parent sessions such as stay and plays and rhyme times for children and parents to socialise with one another and staff.

When your child starts nursery we will set up a Tapestry account. Here you are able to share observations from home.

We have a newsletter which is issued at the beginning of each month. It is sent out via email and we ask that you forward us your email address to enable you to receive and keep up to date with events happening at Toad Hall. We will also post other important messages via email, so please check your emails regularly. There is a parent group on Facebook which you can be invited to join, please notify the office should you wish to be added.
