Nursery Unit
24 months – 36 months (Approx)
Staff ratio 1:5
Our Nursery Unit is designed to support toddlers as they grow in confidence and independence. The unit is divided into three base groups – Newts, Minnows, and Waterlilies – with space for up to 15 children in each. Every group has its own dedicated room and team of staff, providing a familiar, supportive environment for your child.
Each room is carefully set up for:
-
Messy and creative play
-
Role play and imaginative activities
-
Story corner and quiet time
-
Physical play and movement
-
Sensory exploration
Daily activities

Children enjoy a varied, play-based routine that encourages learning through fun. A typical week may include:
-
Art and craft
-
Sand and water play
-
Music, dance, and movement
-
Cooking and sensory activities
-
Storytimes and singing
Daily plans, artwork, and menus are displayed on the A-boards outside the pick-up point, keeping parents up to date. Children also have daily access to our dedicated outdoor play area, and all three base groups come together for parts of the day, supporting friendships across the unit.
Record keeping
Your child’s progress is carefully tracked through their ‘learning journey’, updated regularly by their key person. This includes observations and records of development in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Parents are welcome to view their child’s learning journey at any time.
Rest Times
Most toddlers enjoy a nap after lunch, resting on individual sleep mats with their own sheet and blanket. For children who need more or less sleep, we adapt to individual routines. We also work closely with parents when children begin to drop their daytime naps.
Meal times
Meals are a social time where children and staff eat together at low-level tables and chairs, helping toddlers develop independence, good manners, and social skills.
Toilet training, Nappies & Care
For children not accessing funded hours, nappies, sensitive wipes, and Sudocrem are all included within our fees.
For those using funded hours, we offer an optional consumables fee to help cover the cost of these essentials.
Parents are welcome to provide their preferred brand of wipes or creams, which will be clearly labelled and used exclusively for their child.
All nappy changes take place in a dedicated changing area, separate from the playroom, to maintain the highest standards of hygiene and comfort.
We begin toilet training in partnership with parents when a child shows signs of readiness. At this stage, we ask parents to supply:
-
Plenty of spare clothes
-
A spare pair of shoes and/or slippers
This helps ensure your child feels comfortable, confident, and supported as they take this important step in their development.
